Observational Astronomy is when you look at space and record all the data that you can from studying the subject. Examples of this is looking through a telescope and then recording the size of the star, what its placement is and all its surroundings. Theoretical Astronomy is when you use math and technology to create models to explain the arrangement of the sky.
Astrology is when people believe that the stars depend on the their actions. Some muggles believe their 'horoscope', which is a prediction of their feelings and actions for tomorrow. Scientifically, this is impossible. But many ancient cultures believed astrology as well. Astronomy is the study of the cosmos with mathematics and science. And most times now, computers. Astrologists study the placements and sometimes the behavior of the stars. It can sometimes help predict future super novas.

Emile Noir sat at his desk. He sighed at the amount of papers that was piled upon the mahogany wood. Most of them weren't even schoolwork. They were maps of course. Emile could never stop stuying the maps. Anyways, Emile took the first piece of paper from his homework stack.
"Ms. Miranda Fear. Let's see how you did,"Emile muttered to himself, grabbing his quill from the ink bottle. Looking over it, he nodded and occasionally mumbled to himself. Then he scribbled on top of the paper Completed. 10 points.
Emile set the graded paper down on the floor, for her had no room on his own desk. He then lifted up the next one....

There are a lot of ways to discern between Observational and Theoretical Astronomy. Many people may prefer viewing or observing the stars, planets etc. than calculating their behavior and where they are in the universe with a computer. For most people, observing the cosmos is a hobby. Then they learn the various constellations in the sky in the process. People that are more tech-savy tend to lean towards solving the placement with mathematics and so on.
Astronomy is commonly mixed up with Astrology because they both relate to the stars. But Astronomy is more of the science-side of the stars. Astrology is a made up belief that the cosmos ultimately decides the fate for some people. But one thing is true: Astronomy holds to its standards.

Emile Noir's eyes grazed over the next paper. And yet, another Slytherin. There were sure a lot of Slytherins sorted this year. Focusing back on grading the paper, Emile scanned it over. Prosper did answer all of it well, but he kind of went off other subjects. Nevertheless, Emile wrote Completed. 10 Points..Emile then reached for the other paper before putting it on the floor.

Observational astronomy is all about observing what you see up in the sky. Astrologists take notes and drawings about where the stars are in the sky and the moon phases and discover new things by using a helpful tool, their telescope. Theoretical Astronomy also known as “the study of objects and matter outside the Earth's atmosphere and of their physical and chemical properties” which is where an Astrologist takes there facts and puts them together to make a prototype for example to either predict the moon phase in the future or where a specific star will be in 100 years.
Astrology is the whole concept of signs that happened when you were born and to predict your future by reading the stars you were born under, as muggles call them “horoscopes and zodiac signs.” Astronomy is the study of the stars and space if you take this branch of study in a muggle university you will learn about the stars and all above and you would be able to become an Astrologists and work to predict if anything harmful is going to attack the muggle world.

Emile's eyes almost lit up as he saw Mr. Dames's paper. Of course from first glance, Emile knew that much would come out of that boy. As he read over the paper, he nodded smiling a bit. He then dipped his quill in the ink again before scribbling on the top of his paper Completed. Ten points.

Astronomy is the observation of celestial objects in the sky and the things that go on outside our atmosphere. Such as the positions, motion, and chemistry of the planets and stars. There are two different kinds of astronomy: observational and theoretical. Observational astronomy is mostly about what is actually observed in the sky and then noted. Theoretical astronomy has to do with using computers and other technology to explain why things happen.
On the other hand, astrology is about how the movement and location of planets affect life on Earth. Astrology is more a part of Divination than a subject of its own. Many Muggles use astrology to find their "horoscopes", or a prediction of important events and their emotions during the next day, month, week, etc. Though it's mostly useless for this purpose, astrology can be used to predict trends in the universe, which can be very useful to scientists.

Emile smiled as he saw one of his own students's work. Surely this would be worth reading, he thought. His eyes scanned over it for a few minutes. Then making sure that her answer was complete, he wrote on the top"Completed. Ten points."

There are two types of Astronomy:Observational and Theoretical. Observational Astronomy is a division of astronomical science that is concern with getting data. It's the practice of observing celestial planets through telescopes and other astronomical apparatus. Observational data are plotted down in graphs and general trends are recorded. Theoretical Astronomy is related to the development of computers or analytical models to describe astronomical objects and phenomena. Both compliment each other, with Theoretical astronomy seeking to explain the observational results and observations being used to confirm theoretical results.
Now there is a huge difference between Astronomy and Astrology. Astronomy is the scientific studies of celestial objects and phenomena that originate outside Earth's atmosphere. Astrology is a group of systems, beliefs, and traditions which hold that the relative positions of celestial bodies and related details can provide information about personality, human affair, and other terrestrial matters.

Emile's hand picked up another paper from the pile. Then he noticed it was from the wrong stack. Sighing, he replaced the paper and picked up the right one. Artemis Zeal. Very well. Emile grazed over the paper, nodding here and there. She obviously knew what she was talking about. Completed, ten points.
