Mayrien Michaelis stood in front of her class, white hair pulled back in a simple French braid. His dark eyes sweeped over the class, a smile on her face. She was glad of those who choose her class. Many other people thought Divination was a slack class. Well, she would make it just the opposite.
"Welcome class to your first lesson of Divination. I'm Professor Mayrien Michaelis," Mayrien said with a smile. She then pointed her wand towards the chalk board. "Now, as you know, Divination comes from the Latin term divinare which means, 'to foresee, to be inspired by god.' Now, can any of you tell me from what source Seers might drive their inspiration from?"

Elliott entered the classroom where Divination was being held and smiled gracefully as he saw his head of house Professor Michaelis at the front of the class. Elliott quickly found a seat at the front row and put his messenger bag on there as he waited for the Professor to speak.
As she introduced herself with a smile he nodded as she asked the first question but Elliott had no idea what was a Seers inspiration was but Elliott thought that it might be a simple question put into a complex sentence. Elliott raised his hand as he wondered weather he should answer.

Artemis Zeal had entered the class room, her head stuck in a book. Not knowing where she was going, she sat herself somewhere in the middle of the room and waited for the other students taking this class to come pouring in.
Professor Michaelis introduce herself and asked them a question. Artemis tilted her head in confusion..What source do Seers drive their inspiration from? The inner eye immediately popped into her head. She hesitate. She hardly knew if it was right or not.
Thankfully, she didn't have to question herself too much since a boy from her house(was it..Elder? no..that wasn't it..She knew it started with an E..um..Edgar? no...Evan?no..Elliott? yeah..I think that was it) raised his hand to answer.

Mayrien Michaelis smiled as some of her students raised their hands. She contemplated between the two of them, but then decided on the student that first raised his hand. He looked a bit confused. The expression was plain on his face. Not only could Mayrien read tea leaves, but she could also read people as well.
"Mr. Dames. Don't be shy about answering. This is for me to see what you all know," Mayrien said with a smile. She tried to be kind, but not overly kind. She wasn't a push over for any means.

Elliott went red how did she know he was shy and all. He couldn't say she was magical because he knew that they were all magical. "Doesn't like.... umm.. The inner eye of theirs is like strong and they want to know the future so if umm.. its bad they can tell the Minister and he or she can protect what ever." Elliott said as he was fully embarrased and also creepted out by Professor Michaelis. But there wasn't any need too. He just put his head in his hands and sighed.

Mayrien laughed. It wasn't to be mean or anything. His answer was just amusing. Especially when he was nervous. That was always to cruel side of Mayrien. She liked to see some humiliation once in a while. But not cruel humiliation. This boy seemed very jittery around her. Once she regained herself, Mayrein then pointed to the other Hufflepuff.
"Ms. Zeal, if you could please elaborate on what Mr. Dames as just said. Or in your own words,"Mayrien asked with a slight smile. She wanted her class to be fun. Not embarrassing. But convincing this boy might be harder than she thought.

Artemis shot a comforting smile at her housemate before turning her attention back on Professor Michaelis.
"Um.. well wouldn't they use their Inner eye? It's how they they can see the future..from what I've read." She added quickly. She bit her lip nervously and waited patiently for the professor to make a comment.

Mayrien smiled at her students. They weren't getting it. Maybe she started with the wrong information. Or they just didn't have the same gift as her. Either way, Mayrien was begining to think that it was her fault. She took a big breath.
"Not exactly. For example, they can get inspiration from nature to common objects. But Ms. Zeal you are also half right. They use their Inner eye when they want to and in some cases, when they don't want it," Mayrien replied with a smile.

Artemis let out an "oh" and nodded her head.
"Um..Professor Michaelis.. What do you mean about seers getting inspiration from nature and common objects? Do you mean that they use those to help them see the future...or something else entirely?" She asked as she raised her hand. She was genuinely curious.

Mayrien gave Artemis a comforting smile. She was glad that Ms. Zeal was asking questions. A lot of people were afraid to ask her questions. It was very glad to see that.
"Yes, to see the future. There are also some Seers that can look into the past, but they can't change anything," Mayrien replied simply. Hopefully her students would get some information that is being presented to them. Mayrien hoped that she wasn't starting out hard.

Circe was a bit confuesed but she was getting it. She wished that she hadn't skipped over the Divination book that her dad had. The cover had looked boring but now everything seemed interesting. Circe took down notes like none other. She even copied the notes onto another page so she would remember more of it.

She copied what the professor said down in her notebook.

Mayrien smiled as she noticed that one student caught on to what she was saying. It was always a good thing that there was one student that the others could learn from.
"Now, can you all tell me in what parts of the world Divination is a vital role?" Mayrien asked with a slight smile. "Ms. Sommers?"

Circe had not been expecting to be called on. She really didn't want to look stupid infront of the whole class. She hadn't got that much of a chance to look over her book. She took a minute to think and then said, "Well there is Ancient Greece which they believed in the Oracle. Then there also is The Celts, and Pacific Islands and New Zealand. And also maybe China, Siberia and Greenland." Then she muttered, "I think."

Mayrien smiled. She knew from the looks of her, Ms. Sommers had some intelligence in her. Of course all civilizations were correct.
"Very good, five points. Now who can give some examples or theories, as muggles put it, as to how Divination has helped?"
