Professor Fuego entered his classroom from his office. He watched as the first years chose their seats, looking anxious.
"You won't be needing your books today." He said grinning. "Please pull out you wands and gather around."
Professor Fuego slashed his Sycamore wand through the air. The desks vanished, leaving an open area in the classroom. Excited he watched as the students gathered around in a circle. He realized that they wouldn't be able to get straight to lesson just yet. First the students needed to learn the spell, Protego.
"Now, today we're going to do some defensive spell work. Everyone have their wands? Good. First, we need to cover how to block offensive spells. I need a volunteer."
Professor Fuego looked around the room for the first hand to shoot into the air.

Lasair stood with his Rosewood wand in hand. He looked around to see if anyone else was as excited as he was. He had never been in a proper Defensive class. His uncle had taught him the basics of dueling, though Lasair didn't really remember much of it.
This will be fun, he thought to himself.
He watched as the desks vanished in front of him. He couldn't wait to be able to use magic like that. He heard the professor ask for a volunteer. He hesitated. Lasair didn't really like getting in front of people for demostations.

Amaril Bence formed a circle with the rest of her classmates, a knot of excitment in her stomach. It was her first class, and she knew that whatever happened in this class would set the bar for the rest of the year. The desks vanishing was definitely a good way to start the year.
Therefore, when Professor Fuego asked for a volunteer, Ami's hand shot up right away. At first, she sort of regretted it because she wasn't sure she'd be able to do whatever the professor asked. Then she realized that most of the other kids in the class probably couldn't either and she felt better.

"Miss Bence, please come here." Professor Fuego said, pointing his wand at Amaril Bence. "Now, I want you all to pay close attention. Miss Bence will try casting a jinx at me, while I show you how to defend against it."
Professor Fuego raised his wand at the ready. He gave Amaril a warm smile, and nodded.
"Ready when you are Ms. Bence." He said to Amaril.
He waited for her to cast a spell. The class was silent with anticipation for what would happen next.

Elliott entered the class late as he had troubling finding it. The 2nd graders had tricked him saying that it was outside. He hoped that he wouldn't get in trouble. Elliott swayed his bag to the side and got his wand out and peered where everyone was standing.
There was a professor and Ami Bence who he had meet in Malkin's Robes. Elliott smiled, he didn't know what was happening but it looked like a duel.

Circe was stood near the back of the group. She tried looking around some people that were in her way but it was still hard to see. She was just to short. She the professor had called on someone to try and jinx him but she couldn't hardly see anything. She thought the girl that was picked might be in Ravenclaw but she wasn't sure. Circe heard the door open and in came a hufflepuff boy. He was late. Really late.

"Ah Mr. Dames. I was wondering where you had gotten too." Professor Fuego said, as Elliott entered the classroom. "I won't take points off since its the fist of the year, but do try to be on time."
Professor Fuego smiled at Elliott. He knew that Elliott had probably gone to the wrong class, or something along those lines. Professor Fuego returned to the demonstration.
"We, Ms. Bence and I, were just demonstrating how to block unfriendly spells. So, if your ready Ms. Bence, hit me with all you got."
Professor Fuego grinned, and got into defensive position. He waited for Amaril to cast her spell.

"Sorry Professor some 2nd graders tricked me saying the DAtDA's room was outside next to the greenhouses. I should of known. I wont do it again." Elliott said as he looked at Ami and Professor Fuego and waited for Ami to strike. If I had a opportunity to hurt a professor I would be more than happy too. Elliott smiled.

Lasair saw a Hufflepuff boy walk into the classroom. It was Elliott. Lasair had seen him once or twice before. Lasair moved his attention back to the duel. He waited eagerly for Ami to strike.

Circe listened to the Hufflepuff boy. She was a little suprised that second years did that to a first year. You would normally think a 5th or 6th year would trick a first year. What also suprised her was that he feel for something like that. After all why would they ever have there first lesson outside?
"Some people are just so mean." Circe muttered to herself.

Erica Lightwood entered the class room under her invisible cloak. After a while she quickly took it off before the teaccher could notice that she wan't there on time. Moving some her dirty blond hair behind her ear she sneere her perfect sneer as she paid little attention in class.

Artemis turned too see one of her house-mates coming late. She shook her head, before turning her attention back to the teacher and the ravenclaw girl. She turned her head slightly when she realize the girl next to her couldn't see.
"Here,Let me help you." She said kindly, taking her hand she moved her way to the front. She turned back to the shorter girl. "Better?"

Elliott looked behind him as there was a girl who had appeared from no wear and looked like she wasn't paying any attention to class. Elliott squeezed inbetween her trying not to make any contact with her and into the front of the class so he could see what was auctally going on. Elliott smiled then looked behind him. Artemis was there a girl from Hufflepuff and he had met him in Malkin's Robes. He smiled at her wondering if she looked.

"Excellent disarming spell, Ms. Bence." Professor Fuego said, "I think 10 points to Ravenclaw is in order."
He smiled and motioned the rest of the class to look at him.
"Now, the shielding charm I used to defend my self was the spell, Protego. It's a common spell for protection against jinx, however it would not last against dark curses. Can anyone give me 3 curses that protego would not be able to block?"
Professor Fuego stared around the room. He noticed a Slytherin girl who had not been there five minutes earlier, but dismissed it. (We needed to continue with the lesson)

Erica rolled her eyes and raised her hand. As she did she noticed a boy move in front of her that she had seen at Madam Malkin's Robes.
