Elliott thought for a bit and thought he could give it a shot and stood up. "Is it becasue if you look into the Basilisk's eye you die?" Elliott said and shurged his shoulders as he sat back down.

Professor Averis chuckled a little. "I guess I never thought of it like that before. I guess that would be one reason you probably would never breed one. But I'm sorry that's not the answer. Would anyone else like to try?"

Elliott sighed as he felt embarrassed inside. He shurged his shoulders. At least he gave it a shot.

Circe was supirsed that Elliott got it wrong. She thought that was also the answer. She went over all the facts that she knew about it in her head. She thought about the relation between the Basilisk and a wizard/witch. She knew that a person that wants to control a Basilisk has to speak Parseltounge.
That's it! Circe stood up quickly to answer. She said, "To control a Basilisk you have to speak Parseltounge. If you don't, then there is no way to control it. And since there are a limited amount of people that speak Parseltounge only a limited amount can control them." She sat back down. This was really the only logically answer she had for the question.

Professor Averis grinned. She was glad she had such smart students in her class. "Great work Miss Sommers. 3 points for Slytherin. Miss Sommors you have already used your three questions for house points. If you want you can still answer but you won't get the points."
"Now like all snakes the Basilisk is hatched from an egg. On the other hand, what isn't so normal is that it is hatched beneath a toad. The Basilisk has deadly venom that will kill you but hardly ever uses it because, like Mr. Dames said, if you look into it's eyes it will kill you." She watched as her students took notes and waited for them to catch up. "Spiders flee from the presence of the Basilisk because that is their enemy. Can anyone tell me what the Basilisk flees from?"

Lasair Ruarc sprinted down the grounds. He was really late for class. He had ran into a bunch of Slytherins in the corridores.
"Sorry I'm late Professor." Lasair said, panting.

Professor Averis crossed her arms and tapped her foot. She really didn't like it when her students were late to class. Seeing as it was the first day she would be a little kinder to those who were late.
"Take your seat Mr. Ruarc. I will let it slide today but if anyone is late again then I will be taking away house points. Now you will need to get the notes from one of your class mates later."

"Yes professor." Lasair said.
He walked over to a nearby tree at sat down. He listened the the rest of the lecture, hoping to catch up.

Artemis had been sitting on the grass, her back against a tree trunk, dutifully taking notes. She knew she could have sat on the tree seats, but who was she to do what everyone else was doing? She looked up when Lasair came in late, and shook her head in amusement, but return back to her note taking.
"Spiders flee from the presence of the Basilisk because that is their enemy. Can anyone tell me what the Basilisk flees from?" asked Professor Averis. Artemis bit her lip. She knew the answer..well sort of. She slowly stood up and said,
"um..The crowing of a rooster? It's their mortal weakness."

Professor Averis grinned. She was glad she had such bright and eager students. It just made her day. She flicked her wand at the chalk board and the chalk quickly drew some sort of bird.
"Correct. Two points for Hufflepuff." She smiled at the girl. "Now the commonly known name for The crowing of a rooster is the Phoenix. I would love to talk more about it but we will leave that for another lesson." She said watching her students finish up the last of their notes.
"Excellent now time for homework." Before the students could even groan she continued, "Don't worry it won't be hard. All I want you to do is compare and contrast boomslang and the Basilisk. I want this in by May 1st. I want 3 things comparing and 3 things contrasting. I do give extra house points if I can really see you put a lot of effort into this but that doesn't always include having extra comparing and contrasting facts. If you need help you know where to find me. Class is dismissed."
((PM your homework to me by May 1st. I will post the next lesson on or a little after May 2nd. This will be worth points. If you have any questions just PM me.))
